ROBERT «TANNER» WING
With profound sadness, the family announces the sudden passing of Mr. Robert «Tanner» Wing on October 17, 2023 at the young age of 37. He was a treasured son, grandson, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend.
Tanner was born on August 25, 1986 and to commemorate the day «A star was born» was put on the calendar.
He was a very energetic and outgoing boy. He attended Kakabeka Falls Elementary Falls School where he met some of his life long best friends.
At the age of 14 Tanner started working for BJ Halow & Son Constructors where his love grew for operating heavy equipment. Tanner had great respect
and held close relationships with Bruce and Bruce Senior. Tanner worked there intermittently for many years until June 2023.
After graduating from Westgate C.V.I., Tanner and his Dad worked at Phoenix Industrial in Alberta for several years where he was an operator. Tanner
was a Journeyman pipefitter and a proud member of Operators & Engineers Local 793. His most recent employment was with BPC at Greenstone Mine
as a pipefitter.
Tanner was fiercely loyal to his family and friends. He loved and respected everyone and received the same in return. He was always lending a
helping hand to others and put their needs before his own. He had enormous charm and a sense of humour like no other. He loved playing pranks
on his loved ones. Tanner lit up every room he walked into with his charisma and his bigger than life personality.
Tanner was an avid animal lover. He always had a dog and a cat throughout his life. He spent many hours cuddling with his cat, throwing sticks
for his dog or taking them out on adventures. His most recent pets were Axel and Meow Meow.
Tanner had a way of building strong and meaningful relationships everywhere he went. His parents and sisters were his biggest supporters. He shared
a unique, unconditional loving bond with each of them. He took pride in being Uncle Tanner to his sisters children as well as his friends children.
He would always go out of his way to create special bonds with each of them.
Tanner loved cooking meals and was known as quite the chef within his circle.
Music was an essential part of Tanner’s life. He curated the best playlists and used music as a way to communicate. He loved joyriding listening to his
favourite tunes.
Tanner saw beauty in the world, especially on the water and in the bush. He was happiest outdoors. He spent his summers at the family camp at Shebandowan Lake.
Tanner enjoyed cliff jumping, fishing, sitting at a bonfire, on his atv or in his boat cruising the lake. Tanner’s love for dirt track racing started when he
was a little boy where his parents would take him to Cedar Lake and Riverview. Tanner enjoyed going to Mosquito and Thunder City Speedway supporting his
brother-in-law by being part of the pit crew.
Tanner enjoyed hunting with his buddies and sledding in the mountains.
Tanner continuously strived to better himself and overcame many obstacles. He believed in his own Higher Power and always had an optimistic outlook on life.
His beautiful smile, gigantic heart, infectious laugh and huge hugs will always be remembered.
Tanner is deeply mourned by his parents Hal Wing & Colleen Wing, Sister Jaimie and Ryan O’Hare (Tia and Payton), sister Jessie and Scott McKinnon (George and Blaire)
and Nana Dorothy Autio. Also mourned by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
