Susan L. Sanford Obituary
Susan Lee Sanford, 76, of Oakfield passed away on April 16, 2024 at the United Memorial Medical Center. She was born on March 30, 1948 in Batavia to the late LeRoy F. and Helen (Burdett) Sanford Jr. In addition to her parents, Susan is predeceased by her brother; Ellis J. Sanford.
Susan worked 55 years for Scotch Game Call and Angler Sports Group in Elba before retiring at age 73. She was active with the Oakfield Fire Department and Rescue Squad, past secretary and was one of their first female members and was a board member on the Oakfield Historical Society. She relished working as their maintenance person. Susan enjoyed hunting and fishing, at age she uses a 12 gauge shotgun to shoot a thanksgiving turkey competing against all men.
She is survived by her brother; Gary Sanford of Oakfield, along with several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call from 10:00 – 11:00AM on Saturday June 1st, 2024 at the East Shelby Community Bible Church 5278 E. Shelby Rd. Medina, NY 14103. An 11:00AM Funeral Service will immediately follow visitation. She will be laid to rest in Reed Cemetery in Oakfield.
