Obituary
SCOTT, Sidney Orman – of River Head, it is with profound sadness the family of Sidney Scott announce his sudden passing on August 23rd at the age of 62, just a week shy of his 63rd Birthday. Born August 30th 1960 at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. He was the loving son of Leota (Newell) Scott and the late Sidney G. Scott. Sid is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sharon (Goreham) Scott; sons, Justin (Sheena) and Jordan (Emily); daughter Sydney; grandsons, Quinn and Benjamin; granddaughter, Maggie; mother, Leota; sisters, Mitzi (Seldon) and Cara (Curtis); mother-in-law, Sandra Goreham; nieces, Kristin, Devon, Shana, Megan; nephews, Patrick, Trevor, and Nicholas; fur-grandsons, Eli and Benny. Sid is predeceased by his father Sidney Scott, sister, Andrea Scott, father-in-law, Jack Goreham, brother in-law, Trevor Goreham, and grandparents Scott and Newell. Sid graduated from Barrington Municipal High School in 1978 and then attended Saint Mary’s University for two years to which he decided to begin a career in masonry. Sid completed the necessary requirements to receive his red seal brick layer certificate. He took pride in his work and always pointed out the chimneys and fireplaces he and his father completed together. Sid worked in construction and masonry the majority of his life. His evenings and weekends were also spent doing dry wall jobs to which he often dragged his kids along to; he loved teaching them new skills and techniques. Sid was an exceptional athlete in his younger years; playing hockey, baseball, and golf, where he made many lifetime friendships. In Sid’s spare time you could find him chasing Justin and Jordan to hockey, attending Sydney’s softball games, watching Quinn play hockey online, or at Tim Hortons socializing. In his later years, Sid enjoyed his evenings at home with his wife, Sharon, watching the news or old comedy tv shows. Sid was an animal lover and adored his pets. Spending time with family was very important to Sid and always put a smile on his face. In 2018, Sid underwent intensive surgery for esophageal cancer. After his recovery, he began a new career working in lobster pounds. In 2021, Sid became very ill which led to a bilateral amputation; a wheel chair however did not stop his determination. Sid could often be found wheeling down to Phil Scott Fuels for exercise and quickly learned how to use his prosthetic legs after only a few weeks at Rehabilitation. Despite all that Sid went through with his health, he was always positive and came out stronger than before. The family would like to send an extended thank you to all doctors, nurses, specialists, family, and friends who have support Sid through his health journey. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 30th from 6-8pm at the H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 31st at 2:00 pm at Old River Dale Cemetery with Pastor Shaun Hatfield officiating. Donations in honor of Sid can be made to the “Let Your Light Shine” – Jevon Link Society or the Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund.
