Obituary
Shirley Bernice Tower, beloved wife of Don Tower, passed away peacefully at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, Yorkton, SK, on March 26, 2023, at the age of 80 years old.
Shirley was born in Swan River, MB, on January 2, 1943, to Jack and Mary (nee Ladubec) Keillor. She was one of six beautiful sisters and was raised on a farm north of Norquay, SK.
Shirley attended Mellmore School until grade 8, completing her GED in 1982, at the age of 39. After her schooling, she spent time with Emily and her family before moving to Edmonton, AB, with Gay and Bev. It was there she met her love, Don. Shirley married Don Tower on February 17, 1962.
Together, Shirley and Don lived in several places prior to 1973, when they moved to Norquay, where they raised their three children and worked at several businesses: Norquay Shell was the first, followed by a 38-year career with Sears and the Dollar store.
It was here she could use her amazing organizational skills, meet people, and be involved in the community. Shirley just loved visiting with people!
Shirley’s home was always immaculate and her meals delicious! Gardening was her passion and she worked hard keeping it well tended. She couldn’t wait to pick her first red tomato off the vine each summer!
Shirley also loved fishing with Don, her children, and grandchildren, and even composed a little fishing song to sing while fishing with her grandchildren. That was her secret to catching the ‘big one’!
Shirley will be dearly missed, and her memory cherished by her husband of 61 years, Don; her children: Pam (Fred) of Saskatoon, SK, Shelley (Wayne) of Oakbank, MB and Shaine (Christy) of Spruce Grove, AB; seven granddaughters: Megan (Darren) Unger, Brittani Wiebe (Derek), Macy Matiko (Erick), Chelsea Wiebe, McKayla (Brandon) Tebb, Danyelle Tower (Gerald) and Kaitlyn; two great grandchildren: Eleanor Unger and Dax Tebb; and her sisters: Ida-Mae Kluk, Gay Tower, Marie Ginter, and Carmen Keillor; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to the nurses at the Yorkton Hospital for the excellent and compassionate care they provided.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held and live streamed at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 1, 2023, from the Norquay Evangelical Covenant Church, Norquay, SK. Private Interment will take place at a later date.
Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to Kinsmen Telemiracle, as tokens of remembrance in memory of Shirley Tower.
