Our beloved Mother passed away peacefully at Dufferin Oaks with her family by her side on Easter Monday, April 1st 2024 in her 95th year.
Shirley was the beautiful face behind the counter at Universal Rental where together with our Father they provided a service to the community for many years.
She was born and raised in Hopewell Cape New Brunswick and moved to Ontario where she began her life long ambition to enrich the lives of others through her 60 years of volunteer work with the Canadian Cancer Society.
She was a devoted and life long member of Tweedsmuir Presbyterian Church.
Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband and soulmate Keith in 2003. She is survived by her three children…Kent (Lynne), Wendy(Tony) and Mark (Aurora). Meme will be greatly missed by all her adoring Grandchildren David and Greg (Shizuka) Perry, TJ, Tyler(Mandy) and Katy(Michael) Marotta, Mark Jr. and Justin Perry and her darling Great Grandchildren Luca, Ava and Jaxon Marotta. Shirley will be greatly missed by her sisters Phyllis, Thelma (Clayton), Marg and Marelyn and many nephews and nieces
The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to all the staff who took such excellent care of our dear Mother at Bethsaida Retirement home and Dufferin Oaks long term care facility.
The family would also like to acknowledge her niece Diane Gray for all her wonderful care and compassion towards our Mother in her later years.
A private family burial will take place at Caledon East Public Cemetery.
Celebration of Shirley’s life will be held on June 1st, 2024 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm. at the Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre 21 First St. Orangeville.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to the Tweedsmuir Memorial Presbyterian Church and Dufferin Oaks Long Term Care Facility.
Shirley will always be remembered for her positive attitude and her optimistic outlook on life.
She will truly be loved and missed beyond words and measure.
A tree will be planted in memory of Shirley in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. 22nd Annual Dedication Service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
