Our angel has received her wings. After a most difficult life, our good Lord took Shirley Home, at 86 years of age, to be with Dad & Mom, James & Marie Markham (Durocher), and her deceased family members, James, (Evelyn, Margaret), Jeanne & Edmond Kwiatkowski, Earl, Mary Lou Kwiatkowski, John, and Patricia Vermeulen. Left to mourn are Carol Strong (Martin), Edward (Kim), Judy Wirch (Richard), Michael (Theresa), and Thomas (Deborah). She leaves behind, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, many cousins.
She will be missed by all her friends and comrades at Devonshire Retirement Home, especially Vicky and Sam. Born and raised in Maidstone, she was a faithful, devoted parishioner at St. Mary’s Parish. She loved doing puzzles and knitting hats for the preemie babies at the hospital, enjoyed bingo and doing crafts. A special thanks and recognition to the Funkenhausers, Maxine Barry, Adelaide Jobin, and Elizabeth Mendler. Thank you to Devonshire Retirement Home and Dr. Tyler Jervis. Thanks to her sister Jude, who took such thorough and tender care and responsibility for Shirley for many, many years.
Shirley is resting at the Kennedy Funeral Home Limited (519-776-7378) 128 Talbot St. North, Es on Sunday, January 7, 2024, from 2-5 p.m. On Monday, friends are invited to meet the family after 10 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church (Maidstone) followed by the funeral mass at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. Shirley would be pleased, if you chose to donate to the St. Mary’s Mission Society or the St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund, in her name. You may send your condolences online at www.kennedyfh.com
