Shirley Arlene Wiechenthal passed away peacefully at Arbour Height Long Term Care in Kingston on March 8, 2024 at the age of 93. Shirley (Kuno) Wiechenthal, beloved wife of the late Norman Wiechenthal and loving companion of the late George McAlpine, loving mother of Kevin & Karen of Belleville and Norval & Nancy of Bancroft, beloved grandmother of Tracy & Sean, Justin, Andy & Christina, Erin & Nick, Luke & Rachel, Wade & Jeremy and the late John and great grandmother of Erika, Jaxon, Frank, Owen, Boston, Berkley, Madison, Katie and Emma. Shirley was predeceased by her only brother, Lorne and by her parents, Adoplh & Anna (Fox) Kuno. Shirley was born in Sophiasburg Township on May 7, 1930 and had resided in the New Carlow and Maynooth areas most of her life. The last ten years, she had been a resident of the Riverstone Residence. Shirley’s career as a public school teacher spanned over thirty six years at a number of different schools in the area, the last one being North Hastings Senior Elementary School from which she retired. Her feisty, witty demeanour will be missed by those who knew her as you always knew where you stood with Shirley. May she now rest in peace.
