Obituary
SYMONDS, Sheldon Ivan – 96, of Newellton, passed away on December 21, 2023, at Bay Side Home, Barrington. Born at Clark’s Harbour, on October 3, 1927, he was a son of the late William and Dorothy (Nickerson) Symonds. Sheldon was a fisherman that loved his time out to sea and wasn’t afraid of hard work. He was an avid duck hunter in his younger years. He loved his family dearly and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Doreen (Goodwin) Symonds; sons, William (Sylvia) Symonds, Stanley (Darlette) Symonds, Ivan (Deanne) Symonds; grandchildren, Billy, Raymond, Jeremy, Sheena, Susann, Kattie; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Morgan, Rayen, Jacob, Billie Ann, Camden, Isla, Liam, Jayden; great-great grandchildren, Ivy, Sheldon, Forrest; sisters, Norma Lee Shand, Muriel Anderson; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Lena (Newell) Symonds; brothers, Charles, Sandy; sisters, Faye, Rosalie, Marina, Ramona, and Kathleen. There will be a visitation held, Tuesday, December 26, at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington, from 6-8 pm. The funeral service will take place, Wednesday, December 27, at the Newellton United Baptist Church, at 2 pm. Interment to follow in the Newellton Cemetery, Newellton. The service will be recorded for those unable to attend. It has been requested there be family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Newellton Cemetery or a charity of your choice.
