Obituary
WILLIAMS, Captain Sheldon Ashton (Pal), 75 of Sandy Point passed away peacefully at Roseway Hospital with family at his side on Monday June 17, 2024. Born December 31, 1948 he was a son of Clara (Malin) Williams-Mason and the late Lindsay Frederick Williams.
Sheldon started fishing at an early age then enlisted in the Navy in 1966 and was stationed in Halifax, N.S. and Victoria, B.C. He spent time the HMCS Bonaventure & HMCS Fraser and the mine sweep HMCS Cowichan in Victoria, B.C., but the sea was calling him back to Nova Scotia so in 1979 he packed up the family and made their way across Canada for Lockeport.
Sheldon fished on many boats, out of Lockeport, Shelburne, Cape Breton and Newfoundland where he made so many friends along the way.
He really enjoyed being outdoors whether it was fishing or hunting with many friends and family but most of all loved doing it with his grandson Nickolas.
Sheldon could also be found driving around waving to every vehicle and person he seen. He was definitely a people person and always had a twinkle in his eye.
Survived by his Mother, Clara Williams-Mason, wife of 55 years, Barbara Eleanor Williams of Sandy Point, children; Kim, Sandy Point, Kirk (Erin) Dartmouth, N.S. Grandchildren; Nickolas (Amber), Ashton and Parker. One great granddaughter, Scarlett, brother Lindsay (Yvonne) Lockeport, step-brothers; Mike and Danny Mason, brother-in-law; Eugene Williams, Prince Rupert, B.C, and many nieces and nephews. We would like to mention special people who were like family, Snook, Jeff and Wanda.
Besides his father he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Reggie Goodwin and step-father, Edgar Mason.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne. Cremation has taken place. There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday June 23, 2024 at the Sandy Point Lighthouse Community Hall from 2-4 pm. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of choice. The family would like to extend thanks to the VON to which some became like family. Sheldon loved every one of his VON nurses and looked forward to their visits.
