LOHNES, Sheila Rose – 74 of Rhodes Corner, passed away
peacefully on January 16, 2024 in South Shore Regional Hospital,
Bridgewater after a short, but very courageous battle with C.
difficile, RSV and Pneumonia. Born on December 5, 1949 in Bridgewater,
she was a daughter of the late Malcolm and Helen «Freda»
(Bruhm) Whynot.
Before she married, Sheila worked at Acadia Gas in
Bridgewater. After marrying Roger on April 4,1970, she was a homemaker
and focused on raising their children. When the children were in
school Sheila started working from home as a seamstress for Suttles
and Seawinds in New Germany. Later years she worked with her daughter
at Bluenose Mini Mart in Lunenburg making subs and sandwiches. Sheila
never sat idle, she was a very creative and talented crafter, having
won many prizes for her crafts at the Bridgewater Big Ex. Her
beautiful hooked rugs and quilts can be found in homes across the
nation. Sheila enjoyed knitting, crochet, rug hooking, quilting and
sewing, the pride she took in her work was evident. She was the go-to
in the community for alterations, whether it be pants, dresses,
curtains, she could do it all.
Sheila had a kind soul, a big heart and an amazing smile. She
loved her family and friends and was loved by them in return. Her
grandchildren were her pride and joy, she enjoyed every moment she
spent with them. She was always there to lend a helping hand to family
and friends. She enjoyed playing bingo with her «Bingo
Buddies»; the social aspect being the most important, but it was
always a bonus if she won some cash too. She also made many wonderful
friends through her love of knitting and crafts.
Surviving are her husband Roger; children Randy and Tereasa
(Ronald); siblings Rayburn, Patsy, Marilyn, Ronald, Raymond and
Sylvia; grandchildren Jacob, Megan and Weston; numerous nieces and
nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister
Linda.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Memorial
service was held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday January 23 in R.A. Corkum
Funeral Home, Wileville. Rev. Dr. Doug Mailman officiating. Interment
of ashes at Dayspring Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations
