Sharon Marie Bryl (née McKinlay)
It is with profound sorrow our family announces the passing of Sharon Marie Bryl of Mayerthorpe, AB. She entered the world on April 24, 1944, in Hamilton, ON, and departed on June 17, 2024, in St. Albert, AB, at the age of 80 years.
Mom will be lovingly remembered by her husband, John Bryl; brother, Thomas “Tommy” (Patricia) McKinlay; children, Sherry (Shane) Vaughan, Jamie (Janice) Bryl, Susan Hiron (Darin Adamson) and Danny Bryl; grandchildren, Darrell (Dana) Handfield, Terra-Dawn (Geoff) Detta, Lee Handfield (Samantha Grossenbacher), Tania Burnett, Kevin Handfield (Courtney Smyth), Chris Carriere, Robin (Kent) Malcomson, Kimberly Vogelesang (Troy Prefontaine), Megan Burnett-Wiltse (Derek Wiltse), Taylor Hiron (Dustin Gould), Kenadie Hiron (Tanner Dannish) and Jacob Bryl; great-grandchildren, Tyson, Alex, Emily, Braydon, Hailey, Brookelynn, Savannah, Erianna, Jaxon, Rhiannon, Everett, Mica, Liliya, Wyatt, Hunter, Mya and Madison; great-great grandchildren, Emma, Jasper and Everest; niece, Bonnie Stevens-Adams (Steven Fucili); nephews, Gerry (Lisa) Laviolette, Darryl (Maureen) Stevens, Biff McKinlay (Melanie Chalmer) and Jeremy McKinlay; along with numerous extended relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her son, Robert “Bob” Bryl; parents, Thomas Daniel McKinlay and Margaret Ellen Thackray; and siblings, Lorna Jean LaViolette and Norma Arlene Stevens.
Mom’s passion was crafting, and she shared her delight with all of us through her many projects, like the evolving family tree hung on the wall that grew with every new baby born. She also loved making beehives with cute little bees attached, along with lanterns and chandeliers that lit up beautifully in the evening. She would make lots of beautiful flowers that could go in a vase or hang from the trees outside. We will always treasure the beautiful angels and ornaments she made to adorn the Christmas tree. Her ability to create and find new things to make for us all was a gift we will all miss.
A private ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers and other tributes, donations would be welcome to a local food bank or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, 2300 Yonge Street, Suite 1200, Box 2414, Toronto, ON M4P 1E4.
