Remembering Ruthie
Margaret “Ruth” Carruthers (LeFresne), 77 of Tatamagouche, passed away May 10, 2024 at home. Born January 11, 1947 in Pictou, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Pearl (Mattatall) LeFresne.
Mom grew up in Tatamagouche and graduated from NCHS and later on from Nursing at the Halifax Infirmary and then the VG, where she worked in Neurosurgery as a surgical nurse for many years.
In 1969, Mom married William Lee Carruthers, having two amazing sons, Michael in 1973 and Timothy in 1974, both being born in Halifax. The family later moved back to Tatamagouche, where Mom worked at the LFMH for 45 years and then finished her nursing career at Willow Lodge for another three years. Mom and Dad enjoyed travelling the world by car, airplane, boat and on their Gold Wing.
Mom was predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband of 45 years, Lee. She leaves behind her sons, Michael (Charlene), Tatamagouche Mountain, Timothy (Jiylin Park); #1 Grandson, Jaemin; #1 Grandaughter, Jaein, all of Calgary, Alta; brothers, Earl (Odette), Pleasant Valley, Harris, Jimmie (Shelley) both of Tatamagouche; special friend, Scott Brown (Katie), Elmsdale; nieces, Erin (Peter) and Jane (Julien); Alicia (Donnie); little nephew, Bobbie (Wanda); great nieces and nephews, Logan, Mallory, Lindsay, Cameron, Taylor and Jessica as well as many in-laws, special nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews on the Carruthers side.
Mom was hoping to be heading up above to join Dad as they can keep an eye on us down here.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 26 from 1pm until time of Memorial Service at 2pm both in Sharon United Church, Tatamagouche with Rev. Linton Worrell officiating. A Reception will follow the service. Interment in Lockerby Memorial Cemetery. If so desired, donations may be made to the Lockerby Memorial Cemetery, P.O. Box 55, Tatamagouche, B0K 1V0. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Coulter’s Funeral Home, Tatamagouche.
