Obituary
Goreham, Rosalie Violet – It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend Rosalie Goreham, born on May 17, 1946. Rosalie passed away at age 77 on October 29, 2023 surrounded by her loving family at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Throughout her battle, she always had a smile on her face, a positive attitude and encouraged others going through a similar battle. She never gave up. Anyone who knew Rosalie knows that she had an ability to make people feel at home as soon as they walked through her door. And anyone who walked through her door never left her house hungry and this was likely due to her working many years as a cook. She was always putting others above herself. Even in her final days, she was still thinking of how she could help others. She loved her family unconditionally and made sure they knew just how much they were cared for each day. She would check in on her family daily and made sure to let them know not to drive if the weather was bad. Walking through her doors to family gathering always smelled of the delicious food cooking and Rosalie playing piano in the background. She provided her family with endless wisdom through her life and in her final days only had one request: for her family to take care of each other. She also loved the little things like being out in her garden with her flowers, the Christmas Eve parties at her house, the seniors lunches with her friends, having a house full of company and a fridge full of food, being a part of the Rebekah Lodge and kitchen parties at the Community Centre. She faithfully attended the Woods Harbour Calvary Baptist Church from the time since she was a young girl. Her favourite place to be was out on her deck, with the sun shining, surrounded with friends, family and her dog Bentley. Rosalie was the daughter of Mileage Alexander Goodwin of Woods Harbour and Marion Crowell (Goodwin) of Lawrencetown. Besides her parents, Rosalie was predeceased by her husband of 46 years Chesley “Snad” Goreham, her twin, Rosalin (Robin) Nickerson, sister Rayola (John) Blackham. She is survived by daughters, April (Tim) Cottreau and Kerrie Bubar; brother, Dana (Shelley) Goodwin and grandchildren, Chelsea Cottreau, Cody Cottreau and Marlee Bubar; great grandchildren Caleb Cottreau and Carlie Cottreau, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the care team on floor 4 North at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Many of you touched the lives of Rosalie and her family in ways we cannot explain the depth of. You are very special in our hearts. Thank you to the homecare, VON, Red Cross and Barrington Lions Hall. Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.M Huskilson’s Funeral Home in Barrington. There will be no visitation as per Rosalie’s request. There will be a memorial service at the Woods Harbour Calvary Baptist Church on November 1, 2023 at 2:00 P.M with a reception to follow at the Woods Harbour Community Centre for a kitchen party in her honour. The service will be recorded and uploaded following the service for those unable to attend. Donations can be made to the Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund and Balmoral Rebekah Lodge #39.
