Ronald (Ron) Paul Enns passed away at Brandon Regional Health Centre Brandon, Manitoba Friday, October 18th, 2024 at the age of 85 years.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Helen, children: Brian (Kim), Diana, Ronnie (Sherry), Jeff (Marina), 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, along with Cheryl’s stepchildren and grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Leona Crampain (Donnie) and sister-in-law Anna (Bruno).
Ron was predeceased by his daughter Cheryl (Greg), son Dennis and son-in-law Gerald MacDonald (Diana).
Ron was born January 3,1939 near St. David Church north of Oak Lake. He was the 3rd born to Abram and Agnes Enns. He was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers – Egon and Bruno and 2 sisters in infancy. Ron and Helen (Izzard) were married December 2,1961 and celebrated their 63rd anniversary this year. Ron and Helen lived in the Griswold area for 6 years, where 4 children were born. In 1967 they moved to their farm west of Oak Lake and 2 children were added to the family.
Ron worked for McKenzie John Deere and Kent Flour Mills while on the farm. He did a variety of jobs at Kent’s including bagging flour, operating a Daffin Truck, sales and parts. In 1977 he started Enns Feedlot Cleaning, which he operated for over 35 years. In 2014 they retired from farming and moved into Oak Lake.
Ron was passionate about cattle and continued to raise them the entire time he was on the farm. He was supportive of Minor Hockey and 4H throughout the years. Ron’s grandchildren and great grandchildren were very important to him, and he enjoyed their visits.
Funeral Service for Ron will be held at Oak Lake Community Hall, Oak Lake, Manitoba Thursday, October 24th at 2:00 with Tanis Podobni officiating. Lunch will follow after a private family burial at Oak Lake Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, for those who so desire, memorial tributes in memory of Ron may be made to Oak Lake Ag Society or to Oak Lake District Arena.
