Obituary
Ronald Patrick Groulx, 85, resident of Huntsville, ON died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on January 12, 2023.
Ron was born on May 10, 1937, to his late parents Patrick Leo and Rose in Saint-Jerome, Quebec.
Ron is survived and missed by his loving wife Gerry (VanLierop) of 37 years and children/stepchildren, Richard (Nancy), Norman, Barry, Brian (Heather) Sandy (Peter), Judy (Ivan). Grandchildren/Step Grandchildren, Lewis, Noah, Matty, Ashton, JJ (Craig) Courtney (Andrew) Kyra (Liam) and Kyle. Great Step Grandchildren, Carson and Haisley.
Ron’s memory will live on with his sisters Mercede and Carole, nieces and nephews, Raymond, Nathalie, Josee (Pierre) and Lyne (Able).
Ron is predeceased by his older brother, Norman and younger sister, Nancy.
Ron served in the Air Force specializing in electronics for 24 years and was stationed in Germany, France, Belgium, Ottawa, Kingston and Vancouver Island. This is where Ron began to see the world. Later in life, Ron loved to travel with Gerry, they had very memorable bicycling trips through France, Holland and Canada and spent many years travelling to Florida’s Panhandle, where bridge was abundant, and they made many friends In Ron’s last years when he couldn’t travel anymore, he still had a desire for it. He began taking trips around the world on You Tube. In his final days we still had the trips playing on the TV.
Ron ultimately settled in Burlington, ON where he raised his four sons and continued a career in electronics.
Ron’s #1 love was golf, but a close second was his passion for duplicate bridge. With his wife Gerry and friends Bill and Jan, they travelled to many tournaments racking up the masterpoints. One of Ron’s proud accomplishments was achieving his Diamond Life Master.
Ron was also an avid reader of classic and historical books, Ron’s thirst for knowledge was never ending. His Kobo was always with him wherever he went.
