Roger SEIB Obituary
It is with sadness that the family of Roger Kenneth Seib announce his passing on November 16, 2024, at age 89 at the Rosetown & District Health Centre.
Roger was born February 27, 1935, at Wakaw, SK. During his youth, his family moved to the Kyle area where he attended Saltburn school around Sanctuary. Roger and his mom moved around a lot where he worked alongside her at various restaurants in various locations such as Birsay, Leroy, Imperial and Govan. After attending school in Imperial, he moved to Govan, where he started down the road into automotive mechanics by working at K & H Motors in Govan and attending C.V.T.S in Saskatoon (now Saskatchewan Polytechnic), where he received his journeyman in Motor Vehicle Mechanics Repair.
He married Eleanor Drescher in Govan in October of 1957 and in that same year they moved to Rosetown where he worked for Wight Brothers Chev-Olds, Regal Motors and then Epp Equipment which is now Mainline Chev-Olds. In 1964, daughter Sheila was born and then a son Clairon in 1966. During this time, he became a shareholder in Epp Equipment where he worked until his retirement in 1987, receiving a 20-year recognition plaque and watch from General Motors. He was the owner of Rosetown Independent Building Supplies. He was also involved in coaching minor hockey and refereeing. During the early 1960’s Roger stock car raced in car #36 with his brother Joe in car #37 with the Rosetown Stock Car Club. Then in 1983, his son Clairon got into stock car racing and Roger was his mechanic.
In 1991 he and Eleanor divorced but remained friends until she passed away in 2022. Following his divorce, he met a friend and special companion Margaret Luchsinger from Kyle. They remained close for 20 years up until her passing in 2011.
During Roger’s lifetime, he worked hard to support the community. His time included: being active in the Lions Club, volunteer firefighter, being fire chief in 1975, helping maintain the Civic Centre, maintaining golf carts at the Rosetown Golf Club, and assisting in any other maintenance that the Golf Club needed.
Golf was his passion. He participated in the Saskatchewan Senior Fitness Association (SSFA) 55+ Provincial Games, golfing from 2010 to 2016. He also enjoyed playing pool, curling, and playing on the Old Timer Hockey team. He enjoyed his morning breakfast at the A&W, where he was known on a first name basis. He looked forward to visits with family and loved his grandkids, great grandkids and the various pets the family has.
Roger was predeceased by his mother Tykyna (Tena) Seib Card (Rudeichuk), Father Frederick Seib, stepfather Victor Card, half-brother Bobby (infant), half-brother Joe Seib, and special companion Margaret Luchsinger. He leaves to mourn his passing; daughter Sheila (Ewen) Cole of Rosetown, SK and grandson Dylan (Tasha), great grandkids Levi and Aurora of Coleville, SK; son Clairon (Jo-Anne) of Yorkton, SK, granddaughter Britteny (Christian) Hansen of Strathmore, AB, great grandkids Noah, Amelia and Lucas, and grandson Brayden Seib of Yorkton, SK.
A come and go tea will be held at Shanidar Funeral Home on Monday, November 25 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Roger’s memory to a charity of your choice.
