Roger John Mawdsley passed away peacefully on February 21, 2024 at Chilliwack General Hospital. He is survived by his wife Beth; niece Megan Locke and grand-niece Charlotte. His sister Anne, and only sibling, predeceased him.
Roger was born in Crosby, England on December 6, 1948 but was brought to Belleville, Ontario as an infant. He grew up in Belleville, worked for both CN and CP Railways as a dispatcher and served for a time in the military, but he didn’t stay. He came to BC and earned a B.A. from Simon Fraser University in 1975 and was President of the Student Union while on campus.
Roger had many job titles in both BC and Ontario; from Economic Consultant to businesses and provincial governments in BC and Ontario to owning and operating a small northern transport airline in Ontario and a popular pub in downtown Vancouver. Along with his friend Gary Colosimo he operated a shingle business on Vancouver Island. He was in the process of selling his latest business venture which he created and finally retire.
These past few years Roger was a volunteer driver for Agassiz Community Service. He was a member of the Agassiz Legion.
Above all, Roger was a very caring person with a quick mind and a sharp wit. He was a good friend and a good listener, giving support and help to those who asked for it.
Roger was a loving husband and is dearly missed.
