Obituary of Rodney Daren Shave
Rod passed peacefully away at the age of 56 surrounded by his loving family on March 2nd, 2023. Rodney Daren Shave was born on June 18, 1966 in Botwood NL. Rod grew up in Botwood, attending school which he made lots of lifetime friends who he adored very much and remained very close with. Rodney decided to explore the world at the very young age of 17. Rod began working on the oil tankers which he always shared a few crazy and wonderful stories. Later with all of his experience in life, at a very young age he was made terminal manager at Irving Oil in Botwood which he enjoyed to the fullest.
Rod soon met the love of his life, his “Queen” Teena, which was love at first sight. Rod and Teena quickly married in Botwood and started their family. Later Rod was offered a job in St. Johns’s as terminal manager at Irving south side, which he accepted to give his family better opportunities in life, which was always Rod’s priority. Always thinking about others and thinking ahead was Rod’s thing. Rod and family packed up leaving their friends and family and headed to St. John’s where they resided in Pouch Cove for seven years. Rod later started a new career with Intertek Caleb Brett as branch manager for Newfoundland– his main office was Arnold’s Cove, NL. Rod and his family moved to Paradise, NL where they still reside making Paradise their home. Rod’s love for life shined in all he did, building and fixing things, in his words “tinkering.” If he wasn’t working or “tinkering” he enjoyed quiet time with his beautiful family which he loved more than life.
Rod is predeceased by his father, Joshua Shave, nephew’s, Joshua Roberts and Nicholas Shave. Rod leaves to mourn with his beautiful memories of 30 plus years his loving wife “Queen” Teena, his three beautiful children–which were his world–Tara, Lucas & Nicholas. His mother Joan Antle (Ron), sister Lisa Anderson (Bruce), brother Stephen Shave (Tanya), nieces and nephews. His mother in law Kathy Lanning, father in law Dennis Sansome, sister in law Tobi-Lynn Higgings Porter (Danny). Special relatives Michelle and Darren Wooldirdge. His lifelong friends Glen Rice and Ron Chafe. His coworkers at Intertek.
Special thank you to our precious family Doctor, Stephen Major, his secretary Mary–you are amazing; Dr. Morag Ryan, nurse Elizabeth Murphy-Smith for your weekly visits, and the palliative care team at the LAMC. Teena’s co-workers (transcription Queens) at EH, followed by a large circle of family and friends. ,
Donations in Rod’s memory can be made to the gathering place, St. John;s who had a special place in Rod’s heart.
