Robert Young Obituary
Robert Young, Born in Darlington UK on December 7, 1931; Died in Jordan in his home on July 14, 2024. Bob was a kind man; a great music lover, reader and traveler. He left England with his loving wife Joan and two young children to immigrate to Canada in 1967. He and Joan built a life in Canada from scratch without family and friends around them. In 1988, Bob and Joan went back to the UK and renovated a beautiful old stone mill perched on the banks of the River Tees in Barnard Castle: it was a very long project but it saved the Mill and its related buildings from ruin. Bob and Joan moved back to Canada twelve years ago to be nearer to family and settled in Jordan where they lived quietly and happily until Bob’s health, related to old age, started to deteriorate. Bob spent just a month in hospital and then a further month at home in the care of the Palliative Care team: he was grateful to be at home for the last few weeks.
Bob is predeceased by both of his siblings. He leaves behind Joan, his wife of almost 70 years, and two adult children, Helen and Martin and Helen’s family including her husband Len Pennachetti and their two children, Adrian and Giuliana and two great grandchildren. His gentle kindness will be sorely missed by them. There will be no visitation or ceremony.
