Bob Lacroix, dear neighbour and friend passed away peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2024, having said his last goodbyes to family, friends and his two adoring cats. He fought a long and awe-inspiring battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a rare progressive disease with no known cause. A funny, naturally-upbeat person, Bob spent most of his retirement in Florida and Vermont with Laraine, his beloved wife, whom he met while cottaging in Vermont. Together, they enjoyed all the two states had to offer; in particular, golf, a passion for both of them.
Bob’s work took him to Halifax as Vice President of the Maritime Employers’ Association and later to Ottawa, head-hunted by CBC as Director of Industrial and Talent Relations, a title that continued to perplex him, despite a successful career there.
Bob loved music. His one regret was never learning to play an instrument, despite his Mom being a piano teacher. His favourite day of the year was St Patrick’s Day, which he insisted on celebrating with all due ceremony. He loved to engage in discussions on whatever topics interested , particularly politics, and he enthusiastically swapped jokes, the shaggier the better, with friends whenever the occasion arose.
Over the years, Bob and Laraine have made many dear friends in Canada and the US and Bob will be missed by all.
