Obituary
The Trofimenkoff family is sad to announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Trofimenkoff on October 1st, 2024. He was 60 years of age.
Bob was born on October 3rd, 1963, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. He was the eldest son of John and Judy (nee Strelaeff) Trofimenkoff, and a few years later his brother James was born. As a family of 4, they lived in Yorkton, Saskatchewan where Bob started off his elementary school years until grade 3, then he and his family packed up and moved to Melfort. Not long after, John and Judy decided to move to Balcarres in 1972. Bob started 6th grade at Balcarres High, and then for his final 3 years of highschool, he and his family moved to Canora. Bob went to the Canora Composite High School where he later graduated in 1981. Throughout his teen years, Bob liked to participate in numerous sports such as hockey, slow-pitch, golf, bowling and curling. After highschool, he also was a member of the Saskatchewan Amateur Hockey Association Referee Division.
Bob later moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba where he attended Success Business and worked a part-time job at a restaurant. After about 2 years in school, he decided it was time to move back home to Canora, SK. There, he liked to give a helping hand on the farm and worked as a construction laborer at Kamsack Manufacturing. Shortly after moving back, he decided he wanted to continue his education, and he graduated with a Administrative Studies Certificate from Wascana Institute in 1987. He decided to take a break from school for a while and work as a Roofer at Expert Roofing in Regina with his good friend Russ. Once the winter hit in 1989, he went back to school and graduated with an Accountancy Diploma from the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology. After he had graduated, he moved back to Canora where he began working at Canora Credit Union for about 16 years as a Member Services Representative. Before he had officially retired, he also had worked at The Days Inn in Yorkton as a night clerk, the National Doukhobor Heritage Museum as a handy man, the Gateway Co-operative Limited as a casual laborer, and NorthStar Frontier Services Inc. as a housekeeper.
While living in Canora, he was a member of the Canora Flames Hockey Club where he played as a goalie. He was also on the executive committee of Canora Community Curling Club and the Canora Slow-Pitch League. He was also a member of the Canora Town Council for 3 years.
Unfortunately, in 1997, Bob’s mother Judy became ill. During her treatments, Bob was always there to give support and help out as much as possible until she sadly passed away in 2001. A short while after his mother passed away, Bob began to struggle with mental health and addiction. Unfortunately, his addiction took a toll on his health throughout the years, but Bob was still determined to do as much as he could. In August 2024, Bob’s health began to decline, and on September 27th he was hospitalized at Yorkton Union Hospital where he remained until he passed away on October 1st.
Bob enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and listening to his favorite 70’s, 80’s & 90’s classical rock music, including his favorite band KISS. He had the biggest heart and never failed to put a smile on your face.
He is predeceased by his parents, John and Judy Trofimenkoff, and survived by his brother James, niece Jacklene, and nephew Lukas, as well as many relatives and friends.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
