Obituary
ROSS, Richard Lawrence – 75 of Stoney Island went to his heavenly home on Sunday September 10 2023. Richard could be seen going for his daily drives to the wharves to have a chat with his fisherman friends, working on lobster gear in his barn and on Sunday at the Stoney Island Church. He was a man of God and took his Christianity very serious. He loved learning about the Lord, studying his Bible and listening to sermons as he worked around. He always loved the fall when he could get together with his sons, grandsons and friends to go deer hunting, spend time at the camp in Caledonia, go to PEI Goose Hunting and maybe a little Duck Hunting. Richard enjoyed the 63 years he fished on the ocean. He started lobstering on Ellenwoods Island at the age of 13 and after he was married came to Cape Island and continued until end of season 2023. He loved his family dearly. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Helene (Nickerson) Ross; sons, Shawn (Jami), Ryan (Christine); daughters, Sabrina (Laurie), Krista (James); grandchildren, Capri, Jerica, Stefan, Ashley, Jessica, Tylan, Talen, Dustin and Hope; and 9 great-grandchildren. Richard was predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Avis Ross and; brother, Lester Ross. There will be a visitation held on Tuesday, September 12, from 6-8 pm at the H. M. Hulkilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington. The Funeral Service will take place at Stoney Island Baptist Church, at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 13 2023, with Pastor Wayne Crowell officiating.
