Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto on Saturday, June 1st, 2024 at the age of 74. Beloved husband of 48 years to Kelly Flear (nee Johnston). Dear father of Nigel Flear (Jeff Fowler) and Shannon Flear (Harley Appleby). Also fondly remembered by his granddog Mookie and littermate Lulu.
Richard is the 12th of 14 children of the late Russell and Molly Flear. He is remembered by his siblings Esther Duck, Elinor Morris, Rodney, Leonard, Ann Macklem, Inez Bookman and Phillip. He is predeceased by siblings Norval, Arnold, Kenneth, Reta Connor, Jean Mitchell, Gordon and brother-in-law Andy Johnston. Richard is also remembered by his in-laws Kim, Cindy and Nancy Johnston. He will be greatly missed by many other relatives and friends.
Richard enjoyed golfing, carpentry, reading, crosswords and winning at card games. He is also known for his sense of humour.
Celebration of life service will be held at Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre 21 First St. Orangeville, Ontario on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024 at 2:00 pm with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm Memorial donations to Headwaters Health Care Centre would be appreciated by the family.
A tree will be planted in memory of Richard in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. 22nd Annual Dedication Service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 2:00 pm
