Richard Damer Obituary
Richard Elvin Damer came into this world in 1947 on the same day that he left us- October 11th. Richard met Teunisje in the spring of ‘72 and they married in December of that year. He lived with Teunisje in Rimbey Alberta, spending much of their life south of town at the acreage, and the remainder ‘people watching’ on their corner lot.
Richard was predeceased by his parents Peggy and Gus, and siblings Gary and Joan. His stepfather Tom, and sister Gail remain with the support of their family. Richard and Teunisje were blessed with two boys Loren (Bev) and Gerald (Cathy), their children Payton, Kristen, Coleton, Mackenzie and Chance, and a great granddaughter Casey. Leaving extensive family and friends to mourn alongside them.
Richard played hockey for three years with the Salmon Arm BCHL from 1961 to 1963, which kickstarted his hockey fascination. Richard began his career in road construction and plant work, following the next 35 years as a pipeline and facility consultant. He enjoyed the grandkids visiting, putting them to work alongside him and finding adventure along the way. After his acceptance of retirement he gained more time to tease the family, travel, play crib, enjoy sports (especially hockey), and take in many summers on the boat at Mara lake.
Richard made friends everywhere he went, had a contagious laugh, an excellent work ethic, and the constant need to help, whether he was getting his mitts in the way or not. Many people have shared stories that will last them a lifetime, and we hope to continue to do that for as long as we can.
A Funeral Service for Richard will take place on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Rimbey Christian Reformed Church.
