It is with profound sadness that the family of Raymond «Ray» Callery announces his passing on September 9, 2024, after a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. Ray passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, at Kingston General Hospital.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Kingston General Hospital and Lennox and Addington County General Hospital for their compassionate care during Ray’s illness.
Born on July 26, 1970, Ray will be remembered as a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Mary Ann Callery, and a loving father to Eleanor (Cole), Ashley (Justin), Rachael (Owen), and Mark. He was the cherished Grandpa to Amelia “Mea.”
Ray was the son of Thomas and Kathleen Callery, and the dear brother of Karen and John. He was also a treasured brother-in-law to Mark, Nata, Colin, Stephane, Tim, Debbi, Barry, Karen, Dan, Carole, and Deborah. He was a much-loved uncle to Jamie, Ryan, Sandy (Joe), Brian (Carrie), Krystle (Dustin), Adam (Rachael), April (Sebastian), Krysten (Aidan), Faleshia, Sterling, Colton, Landon, Lydia, Robert, Jessica, Jordan and Spencer, and a great-uncle to Lucas, Abby, Levi, Eli, Parker, Harvey and Charleigh.
Ray dedicated 30 years of his career to the Town of Greater Napanee and served as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the United Counties of Leeds & Grenville for the past three years. His professionalism and leadership were highly respected throughout his community and work life.
Predeceased by his brother, James, and brother-in-law, Peter, and Mother-in-law and father-in law, Charles and Eleanor Finn. Ray’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 13th, 2024, at Wartman Funeral Home in Napanee from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patricks Catholic Church on Saturday, September 14th, 2024 at 11am followed by a reception at Wartman Funeral Home and then burial at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that expressions of sympathy be made through a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in Ray’s honour. Condolences and donations may be forwarded online through wartmanfuneralhomes.com
