Obituary
With great sadness, the family of the late Randy Charnstrom announce the passing of their beloved son, father, and brother. Randy passed peacefully at the Preeceville Long Term Care Home on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the age of 60 years.
Randy was born June 2, 1963, to Leonard and Verna (nee Dergousoff) Charnstrom in Canora, SK. He attended and completed his education at Buchanan School. Randy grew up near Buchanan, where he helped his dad and brother on the family farm. While working on the family farm, Randy often found himself working on all kinds of different equipment and vehicles. Here, he found a passion for mechanics. All throughout his life, he could be found tinkering in his shop, working on vehicles or one of his many other projects and inventions.
Throughout Randy’s life, he worked at numerous jobs. Some of these included working for Royal Building Movers, as foreman at Smook Contractors, and at the Weyerhaeuser mill in Hudson Bay. He was always known at work for his strong work ethic and for being the first one to jump at a problem whenever it arose. Later in life, Randy also ran his own welding and fabrication business out of his shop for many years.
Randy’s passion extended to motorcycles. Over the years, whether it was on a long road trip with friends or a short cruise around home, he loved to ride. In his younger years, Randy and many of his closest friends frequently went to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, where he made some of his fondest memories, which he loved to reminisce about.
Chopper was known for his big heart and his kind and generous personality. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Randy is predeceased by his father, Leonard Charnstrom.
He is survived by his mother, Verna Charnstrom; son, Kane; siblings, Don, and Janice and partner, Wylie; extended family, and many friends. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. Those wishing to express sympathy may make donations to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation in memory of Randy Charnstrom.
