Peacefully, on January 31, 2023, our mother Raemonde Harrison passed away at Poseidon Care Centre. After a lengthy struggle with dementia, she has now found her peace.
Raemonde was born in Winnipeg to Douglas and Greeta MacLean on September 3, 1945. Growing up in Neepawa, MB as an only child, she enjoyed small town life and formed many great and lasting friendships.
As an adult, she moved to the east coast, then to northern Manitoba before finally settling in Winnipeg to raise her two children, Carolee Csuk (nee Webb) and James (Jim) Harrison.
Raemonde’s career path involved many unique and interesting jobs which encouraged her to complete her GED in her 30’s eventually leading her to the role of Educational Assistant with the Winnipeg School Division where she worked until retirement. In retirement, she travelled when she could and loved walking around her Garden City neighbourhood and mall-walking with the “old people”.
Mom will be remembered for being quiet until she got to know you; at which time she would chat about anything, especially her love of travel, whether it was a spur of the moment drive to nowhere Manitoba for lunch or a cross country trek surprising out of province friends and family with an unexpected knock on their door. She will also be remembered for her sense of humour which she kindly passed on to her children; and her love of Neepawa and surrounding areas.
Raemonde’s life will be celebrated by her children Carolee (Randy), Jim (Debbie); grandchildren Matt (Kristen), Josh (Jay), Sage (Matt), Karley (Josh); cousins Sherry (Kelly); nieces and nephews and many many great friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Diabetes Canada (Formerly the Canadian Diabetes Association) or the Alzheimer Society of Canada (as they also support Dementia education and research).
Memorial Service 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Bardal Funeral Home.
