It is with great sadness that our family announces Rachel’s passing on July 20, 2024, with her loving family by her side. Our sassy, spitfire of a mom joins her late husband, Big Ernie. Loving daughter of Percy and Florence Mason. Amazing mother to Cheryl Doran (Stewart), Candace Korkiakoski (Sam), Kenneth Stelmakowich (Maria) and Angela Stelmakowich. Incredible Grammy to Andrew DaCosta-Clark, Rhea DaCosta-Clark, Kenneth Doran (Juan) and Andrew Doran (Paul). The best big sister to Agnes (pre-deceased), Bill (Geraldine), Harry (pre-deceased), Mary-Lou, Gerald (Sharon), Reta (Wayne) and Rose. Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Born in Southern Ontario farmland, not far from Vineland, she and Ernie headed north in 1953 to make Sudbury their home and raise their family. Rachel was adored by her children, respected by family and friends, and cherished by all who had the good fortune to share her life. Our family is forever grateful to all staff at St. Joseph’s Villa for providing the care our beautiful and beloved mother so richly deserved with professionalism, patience and, often, a healthy dose of humor. A special thanks to Leya, Delna, Phillip, Sally and Michelle. Your kindness was always noticed and appreciated. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd., Sudbury, on Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Chapel service will follow at 2 p.m. in the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME Chapel.
