Obituary of Priscilla McKnight (nee Derouin)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Priscilla June Derouin of Quyon, Quebec on Monday, December 4, 2023 at the age of 74. Predeceased by her loving husband Stephen McKnight. Daughter of the late Henry Derouin and Bertha Lagarde. Loving mother of Darlene (Lyle Fraser), Colleen (Garrett Donovan) and the late Rob Morris. Cherished Nanny of Meghan (Brandon Mackechnie), Henry, Eve Donovan and the late Rory Donovan. Beloved Great Nanny of Reese and Louisa Mackechnie.
Dear sister of Martina (Larry), Teresa (late Stuart), Norma (Brian), Lawrence (Joan), Bernard (Bernadette), and Paul (Danielle). Beloved sister-in-law of Mary-Ellen (Robert), late Gary (Trudy) and Joanne. Fondly remembered and greatly loved by her many nieces and nephews.
Priscilla was born and raised on Calumet Island and later lived for many years in Quyon where she was well known for volunteering at the Quyon Legion, a friendly chat on her many walks and most of all for being the best poutine maker around during her years of ownership of the Big Potato chip wagon. She retired in 2014 after a 37 year career at the Canadian Bank Note. Priscilla especially enjoyed her time in Florida with her husband Steve, quilting with her sisters, reading and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren. She spent many early mornings baking bread, treats, mixing up the best pie crust in the world and hitting local garage sales. Priscilla was known for her kindness, generosity and work ethic.
Friends may call at the Hayes Funeral Home, 1040 Clarendon Street, Quyon, Quebec on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Parish, Quyon, Quebec on December 12 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held in the spring. A celebration of Priscilla’s life will be held at the Quyon Legion following the funeral.
Donations to St. Mary’s Church or the Shawville Long Term Care Centre would be appreciated.
