Obituary
Phyllis Graham (nee Milton), aged 93, of Minnedosa passed away with her family at her side on July 22, 2023 at the Brandon Regional Health Center following a brief illness. Phyllis was born in Sinclair, Manitoba on April 23, 1930. She was the fourth of five children born to Donald and Willena Milton. When she was a child, her family moved to Newdale. She grew up during the Great Depression, which no doubt led to her resourcefulness and the determined attitude she carried with her throughout her life. Phyllis met her husband, Murray, at Clear Lake and they were married on July 9, 1949. They started their married life in Winnipeg. Shortly after, they moved to Minnedosa where they raised their three children, Bob, Pat, and Barbara. Her children remember the wonderful childhood their parents provided. The door was always open to their friends and smells of delicious baking filled the kitchen. There were memorable holidays, picnics at the beach, and creative hand-made Halloween costumes. As her children grew older, she decided to add to her role as a homemaker and she became the school librarian at Tanner’s Crossing School. This was a job that gave her a great sense of joy and purpose. Many long lasting friendships came from this job she so enjoyed. In addition, Phyllis was always very involved in the community as a volunteer and board member of various organizations. Some of her volunteer activities continued into her 90s. She was also well-known around town by her little red Chevette. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Murray, her parents, her four siblings, her granddaughter, Tracie, her son-in-law, Steve Rutledge, and her son-in-law, Bob Ferguson. She is survived by her son, Bob (Debbie), her daughters Pat and Barbara, five grandchildren, Brandi, Justin, Christine, Kristin, Lauren and six great grandchildren Tyson, Ryan, Cody, Madyson, Hudson, and Scarlett. Funeral services were held at the Minnedosa United Church , Kathy Platt officiating, on Thursday, July 27 with burial at the Neepawa Cemetery in the Graham family plot. White’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Phyllis loved her life in Minnedosa and was happy to remain living independently in her home. She cherished the friendships she made throughout her life here. Memorial contributions in remembrance of Phyllis may be made to the Minnedosa United Church, P. 0.
