Philip Anthony Corbin passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 9th surrounded by his family. Philip was born in Halifax and was the son of the late Edgar and Margaret (Wyatt) Corbin. A beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; Philip was a kind, gentle and patient person with a forever optimistic and positive disposition.
Philip began his career as an automotive technician in the 1960’s. He worked at various service stations in Bedford before becoming an employee with Teasdale & Foot Ltd, in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and later with Forbes Chevrolet. During his time with Forbes Chevrolet, Philip achieved his General Motors Master Automotive Technician Certificate. Philip worked at Forbes Chevrolet for 33 years, finishing his career with them as the Fixed Operations Manager. Philip then went on to become a successful entrepreneur opening Corbin’s Automotive Ltd. with his son, Dwain, in 1997. Philip took great pride in watching the growth of this family-run business and seeing second and third-generation families become clients and friends.
Philip enjoyed travelling with his wife, Jannette, and spending time with his family. They enjoyed socializing with their friends in Florida and Nova Scotia. He and Jannette had many years of enjoyment in Florida and hosting their children and grandchildren for visits created special memories. Philip especially enjoyed the time he spent with his Florida buddies and he had many fishing tales to tell. Philip shared a special bond with his brother Ted and they were often together.
Philip will be sadly missed by sons Dwain (Donna) and Derek and daughter Natasha (Jamie), grandchildren Rebecca (Alex), Cameron (Alicia), Alexandra and Theran, brother Ted (Linda), sister Catherine and nieces and nephew. He was predeceased by his adored wife Jannette and sister Suzan Trottier.
Cremation has taken place.
A celebration of life will be held on January 31st, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Church 954 Old Sackville Road at 2:00. Interment will follow at Oakridge Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
