Pierre Mustache
Boudreau 1929 2024 résidant dans la province Nova Scotia pour le détail des funérailles
February 10th, 1929 – June 30th, 2024
Age: 95
Peter was one of 11 children and one of 7 sons; and in his early days, fished alongside his father and brothers in Petit de Grat. He did a couple of trips aboard fishing draggers out of Petit de Grat Harbour (not his cup of tea!), and also did some lobstering, longlining, and swordfishing, to name a few. Later, Peter had an almost 30-year career as a fisheries officer.
Peter was a naturally strong, athletic person and played outfield for the Petit de Grat Redcaps baseball team. He also loved ice skating and skated every winter up until, and including, the year he turned 93! Impressive, especially when Peter only first laced up a pair of skates at the age of 65! Peter was quite good at any sport he tried, as was evident when he played badminton! He could make the shuttle fly, and even jumped over the net! As a young man, he would often entertain his friends and family with his acrobatics—walking on his hands, even up and down stairs, walking on hand-made stilts, and balancing all types of things, like pool cue sticks on the top of his foot, for example! Some people would say that Peter was showing off—but really, it’s not bragging if you can back it up! And he did!
It was no use to tell Peter he couldn’t do something! He would find a way to get it done! When Peter wasn’t able to secure a building permit to tear down his home at The Point and build a new one, he simply built a new one inside the shell of the old building—then threw the old outside walls down! Genius! Peter always found a way to work around any obstacle.
In his retirement, Peter enjoyed going for sails aboard the boat he built himself, the «Loveboat». A boat that was built in a shed that was too short for the length of the boat he was building! As athletic as Peter was, he was also very graceful and was a beautiful dancer. Over the years, Peter and Irene enjoyed going to local dances regularly.
Peter was a man of many talents, even penning his autobiography and self-publishing it, and also wrote songs that were recorded on a CD by the late David Lloyd who played the guitar and sang Peter’s lyrics.
Like all of his Boudreau siblings, Peter was very softhearted, and all of his family and friends are going to miss his kind presence immensely. Peter had a larger-than-life personality and marched to the beat of his drum. He lived his long life on his terms and was always true to himself.
There will be no visitation per request.
Burial will take place in the Star of the Sea Cemetery in Petit de Grat on Tuesday, July 10th at 11 am with Rev. John Yake officiating.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 10th, 2024 in the Civic Improvement Centre in D’Escousse from 12 – 4 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.
