It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing
of Peter George Doucette, whose quiet nature, deep kindness, and
humility left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. Peter
departed this world surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of
warmth, authenticity, and a life well-lived.
Born with an innate love for nature, Peter found joy in the
simple things; tending to his gardens and flowers, feeding the blue
jays and playing the guitar. His connection to the natural world
reflected his own grounded, gentle spirit.
A man of few words, Peter spoke with purpose. When he shared
his thoughts, they carried wisdom and meaning. His moral compass was
steadfast, and he treated everyone with the same kindness and
respect.
Music was Peter’s gift to the world.
Though soft-spoken, he could fill an entire room with his powerful
voice and the emotional chords of his guitar. His performances were
heartfelt and moving, and every time we hear CCR, we’ll be
reminded of the joy he brought into our lives through his
music.
Peter was born on September 11, 1953 to Edger Doucette and
Doris Doucette-Dingwell and is predeceased by his brothers Jamie
Doucette and Paul Doucette. He is survived by his best friend and wife
of 50 years, Joan Doucette (MacDonald), his daughters Kerry Anne
MacDougall (Jansen McKinnon) and Kim Dodd (Randy Dodd), and his son
Wayne MacLeod (Sandra MacLeod). He will also be deeply missed by
grandchildren, Will, Addie, Daniella and Patrick as well as his
sisters Paulene Craig, Debbie McCarthy, and Linda Bowley [Wayne
Bowley]. His memory will be cherished by countless friends and
extended family members who admired and loved him.
Resting at Hennessey Funeral Home, visitation for close
friends and family will take place on Tuesday from 3pm-5pm with a
gathering to following. Flowers are graciously accepted, or donations
may be made to the Humane Society in Peter’s honour,
reflecting his lifelong love for animals.
Peter’s quiet strength, gentle soul, and deep love
for the simple joys of life will live on in our hearts.
