Passed away surrounded by family on Thursday June 27, 2024 at Kingston Health Sciences Centre,
at the age of 80.
Peter was beloved husband and best friend of Carol van der Voort (nee Dufault) for almost 40 years
until her passing in 2010. Peter was fortunate to love and share his life for the past 12 years
with Aldeane Reid. Dear brother of Mary van der Voort, late Margaret Ball,
Bonnie Robichaud (Larry), late Bernadine van der Voort, Adrian van der Voort (Janice),
Betty van der Voort (Larry), Corry LeBlanc and Frances Crawford (late Ian).
Sister-in-law Michele McIsaac (John), Lynn Thisse (Jonathan),
brother-in-law Paul Dufault (Dorothy) Marc Dufault (Laura)
He was blessed with the love and care of numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a good friend to and loved by Aldeane’s children and grandchildren.
Peter was born in Leiden, Netherlands in 1943. At 8 years old he immigrated to Canada
with his family, settling in Toronto. He graduated from Weston High school and went on
to have an exciting career in the emerging Technology and Communication industry.
Peter served as one of the anchors in our family after our parents passed. He was always happy
to celebrate Christmas, birthdays and graduations with his family.
He was proud of his Dutch heritage, visiting the Netherlands and enjoying all the traditional foods.
Peter travelled to many others places in the world throughout his lifetime with Italy and Spain
among some of his favourite spots. He was also a snowbird for many years and always
looked forward to seeing his Florida family.
Peter loved golf, wood working, watching the stock market, enjoying an occasional scotch
and making his family and friends laugh.
Peter was generous and caring to everyone he knew. He will be greatly missed by all.
Family will receive friends at the Wartman Funeral Home – Kingston on Friday, July 19th, 2024 from 10am-1pm
A funeral mass to be held at St. Linus Church (Bath ON) at 2 PM with interment
to follow at St. Linus Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Peter made to UHKN-ICU would be appreciated by his family.
