It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mom, Pauline Letitia Wentzell, on Sunday November 10, 2024 at the age of 93, one month and 10 days shy of her 94th birthday.
Mom was born on December 20, 1930 in Middlewood to the late Jordon and Clara Croft. She was the second oldest of six siblings.
In her younger years she played guitar and mandolin in a small family band with her father and some siblings. Her mandolin still remains in the attic of her home. She went on to work as a chambermaid at what is now known as Indian Garden Farm. She then met and married our father and became a housewife and mother. There wasn’t a day that went by that she wasn’t knitting or crocheting something that would often be given out as Christmas gifts.
Mom passed peacefully in her own home with family by her side which was her wish.
She was predeceased by our father, Russell; brothers, Garnet Croft, Hallet Croft, Ronald Croft; sister Christine Langille; granddaughter, Angie Wamboldt; great grandson, Bryce Baker and son-in-law Leroy Baker.
She is survived by sister, Alieen Freeman; children, Susan Baker, Clinton (Debbie) Wentzell, Claire Billard, Linda (Gerry) Kenney, Arnie Wentzell., Eric (Marsha) Wentzell, Gail (David) Wile; grandchildren, David (Bonnie) Baker, Ryan (Melissa) Baker, Kyle (Amy) Billard, Cody Billard, Jillian (Mike) Kenney, Sarah (Ben) Frauzel, Michael Wamboldt, Megan (Dalton) Wile, Tiffany Wile, Colby Wile; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy 3, Lunenburg. There will be no funeral service as requested by our mom. Cremation will take place and she along with our father will be laid to rest in the Sunny Valley Cemetery at a later date with a family gathering.
Memorial donations may be made to the Lunenburg County VON, South Shore Palliative Care, the Red Cross, Canadian Cancer Society, Sunny Valley Cemetery or a charity of your choice.
We the family would like to take this time to send our sincere thank you to Dr. Jenkins for his wonderful care of our mom over the years, the wonderful nurses and staff of the Palliative Care team, home support and the VON for their care and compassion shown to our mom and us during this difficult time. Also to Debbie Wentzell for her devotion, compassion and excellent daily care for mom and her guidance and support for all of us. If it wasn’t for her, our mom would not have been able to have her wish to remain at home. We could not have done this without her.
