PATRICK ‘PADDY’ YELLOW WINGS

It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the passing of Paddy Yellow Wings on Tuesday, February 14, 2024, after a lengthy illness.
Left to mourn Paddy is his Spouse of 44 years, Nadine; Son & Daughter-in-law: PJ & Quincy; Grandchildren: Dakota, Lukan, Carling, Ethan, and Eleia; Mother: Rosabel (Yellow Wings) Creighton; Brother: Danny (Georgette), Sisters: Doreen, Elaine, Lucy (Randy Young Pine); Brothers In-law: Rex (Molly), Jeff (Yolanda), Joe (Joni), Kirby (Slim); and Sisters-In-Law: Shelley Iron Shirt (Raynard Young Pine, Deceased) and Annette (Franklyn) White Quills; Uncles: Eugene (Chief)/Lorna Creighton, Wilford (Pansy) Yellow Wings and Auntie: Frisco Little Light.
Patrick is predeceased by his Father: Isaac Yellow Wings, Sr; Brother: Isaac Yellow Wings, Jr.; Sister: Brenda Yellow Wings; Son: Kevin Pat Day Rider; Daughter: Amanda Jade Davis; Brothers-in-law: Tex Day Rider & Leonard Crow Chief; Grandmother: Flora Creighton; Father & Mother-in-Law: Gordon & Annie Davis
Paddy was born and raised on the Blood Reserve in Saikois (Center Lease Road) with his siblings and the White Quills Family (Vivian, Peggy, Vera, Tammy, Boyce, Kirk (Sack), Robby (Deceased) & Bobby Creighton.
Paddy received his education at St. Mary’s Residential School, GR Davis and FP Walshe Schools in Fort Macleod; Paddy then continued his education at the Lethbridge and Medicine Hat Colleges (Upgrading/ Carpentry). Paddy obtained his Certified Journeyman/Red Seal in the field of Carpentry in 1998 – an achievement he was very proud of.
In his lifetime, he was employed by various departments on-and-off the Blood Reserve including: Blood Tribe Housing, Blood Tribe Employment & Skills Training Centre (BTEST), Kainai Resources Inc. (KRI), Native Women’s Transition Department, Sik-Ooh-Kotoki Friendship Society, Chief Mountain Truss Co. and Treaty 7 Housing. Paddy was known far-and-wide for his carpentry skills. He was always ready to assist/teach people interested in learning the tricks of the trade. He was a person who took great pride in building houses both on-and-off the reserve — a skill he learned from his father, Isaac Sr.
Paddy was known by many and made friends easily. People were drawn to him mostly through virtue of his humble and easygoing nature.
Paddy and Nadine took great pride in the upkeep of their home on Centre Lease Road, and people who stopped by always complimented them on how beautiful their house was inside-and-outside. He loved his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews immensely and was always so glad when they stopped by to visit.
Paddy, a loving husband, father, son, brother & grandfather, will be dearly & forever missed by all of his family, relatives and friends.
A Wake Service will be held at Eden’s Funeral Home, 2424 – 5 Avenue, Fort Macleod, on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Blood Tribe, on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM.
Following the Funeral Service, Patrick will be laid to rest at the Yellow Wings Family Plot, on the Blood Tribe.
