With heavy hearts and great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Olga Polyoka at Extendicare Hamilton, in her 91st year, on August 20, 2023. She leaves behind her loving husband of 70 years, Michael; and their sons Gary (Heather), David, Robert (Jakki) and Michael Jr. Beloved Nagymama to Corey, Sheila, Scott, Harry, and Max. She will be missed by her great-grandchildren Braedyn, Michaela, Cooper, Jacob, and Graham. Predeceased by her parents Adolf and Julia, and survived by her sister Magda Uusrand.
She will be dearly missed by her cousins Betty Hunter, Sylvia Oravetz, close family, and friends.
Olga was born in Tillsonburg, Ontario, on August 17, 1933. She grew up in the North End of Hamilton and went to Central High School of Commerce before starting her career at the Hamilton Spectator as a prepress typist. Olga retired from the Spectator in 1991 after 42 years. She took immense pleasure in being a wife, mother and Nagymama.
Special thanks to the staff at Extendicare Hamilton for their passionate care of our beloved Olga.
A private celebration of life will be held by her family.
In lieu of flowers Donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
