After a great life, it is with profound sadness that we inform you of the passing our patriarch, Norman Goldberg, on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at the age of ninety-one surrounded with love by his family.
Norman was blessed with sixty-five years of marriage to the love of his life, Rose (Reiter), who he has been missing dearly since her passing fifteen months ago. Together, they brought five children into this world: Arlene and Paul, Mitchell and Francine, Barnet and Callander, Joanne and Steven and Louis and Lisa; twelve grandchildren: Bonnie and Joe, Steven and Shari, Ryann, Jake and Carly, Louis and Ashley, Aiden, Shirel, Matthew and Christine, Jarred and Aly, Britney, Justin and Chloe; and nine great-grandchildren (with two more on the way). Predeceased by his two sisters, Rhoda and Archie and Dovie and Issie, and his brother-in-law Willie and his wife Helen. He will also be missed by his cousins, nieces and nephews.
Norman was an accomplished athlete and had a love and drive for sports that was beyond compare. Norman played water polo on the Canadian National team at the Pan American Games, he ran marathons as well as triathlons, and cycled well into his late eighties (and continued to cycle until a few weeks prior to his passing).
Norman was a savvy businessman and ran the family business, Main Florist, for over fifty years. Family was everything for Norman and he prioritized it over all else. He was a devoted husband, a doting spouse and an amazing parent.
Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Tuesday January 30 at 1:00 p.m. Burial at the Chevra Thilim Pinsker Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at his home Tuesday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and Wednesday and Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Contributions in Norman’s memory may be made to Beit Halochem Canada, Aid to Disabled Veterans of Israel: beithalochem.ca/product/emergency-fund/, and One Family Fund: onefamilyfund.ca/donate/.
