June 20, 1982 – November 10, 2023
After a lifelong struggle starting at birth with cerebral palsy and a multitude of additional health issues, Annette Nicole “NIKKI” Shewan unexpectedly but peacefully passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023 at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, in her 42nd year. Cherished daughter of her mother Denise Burden (nee Turnbull) and her father Jack Shewan (Petra), older sister to Stephen Shewan. Nikki’s love for family and passion for artwork and hobbies leaves her lovingly remembered by her Aunt Bonnie (Patrick), Uncle Ken (Naomi), Aunt Wanda, Aunt Cathy (Ed) and Aunt Deb (Al), and she will be greatly missed by Jack’s nieces and nephews Paul, Sarah, Mark, Lisa, Matt, Jessie and all of their families, and by Denise’s nieces and nephews Shannon, Andrea, Chad, Jessica and all of their families.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the nurses, the doctors, the many staff, and numerous doctor specialists at London Health Science’s Center and Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, the Oxford County Palliative Team nurses and doctors, Care Partners, all of her VON/Passport support workers and administrators over the years, and her life counselor Gavin Michaels.
Friends and relatives will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg on Wednesday November 22, 2023 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. The Funeral Service for Nikki will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 46 Brock Street West, Tillsonburg on Thursday November 23, 2023 at 11:00am with Rev. Paul Robinson officiating. Interment to follow in the St. Andrews Cemetery, Thamesford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the London Health Science’s Center Foundation and the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital Foundation. This can be done directly with each Charity or by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home (519) 842-5221.
