Passed away in her sleep, on Friday, August 16, 2024, in Maynooth, Ontario. Shirley was born on February 18th, 1946, in Belleville, Ontario and was raised in Birds Creek. She lived in Toronto for many years and eventually returned to the Bancroft area for the last 35 years of her life. Shirley was the loving daughter of the late Zella Miller (nee Cooney); as well as the daughter of the late Whillam (Cooney) and the late Alexander Parks. Shirley is survived by her partner Reg Woodcock and her children Terry Nicholas, Tim Nicholas and Christine Nicholas; as well as her stepson Chris Nicholas (Suzanne), step grandson Daryl Nicholas and her brother Howard Parks. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon Nicholas, children Paul, and Roxanne Nicholas, siblings Lillian Easton, Tom Parks, Max Parks, Wilfred Parks, Elvin Parks, and Bob Parks. Shirley loved being around children, and often worked as a babysitter throughout her life. In her younger years she enjoyed playing hockey and baseball in a women’s league. In her later years she loved watching crime shows. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Shirley’s Life will take place at the M.G. Daly Funeral Home (200 Old Hastings Road, Maynooth) on Saturday September 07, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated by the family.
