Nicholas Sparks Rodger
was born in Ottawa on April 30, 1947. He died on April 27, 2023 from
complications related to Parkinson’s/Lewy Body
Dementia.

Nick greatly appreciated the care and support from
Dr. MacDonald and Dollie Brooks of Moncton Hospital’s MIND
Clinic, and Dr. Beaulieu, Ellie and all of the staff at The Briarlea
Off Gorge.

Nick was predeceased by his parents Norman Elliot
Rodger and Isabel Otley Rodger (nee Wilson).

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Charlotte
Anne Adelia Varner, his two daughters, Adelia Sarah Rodger and Laura
Nell Rodger, and by his stepson Dylan Varner-Hartley (Katie) and their
daughter Finley. Nick is also survived by his brothers Norman Wilson
Rodger MD (Judith) and David Elliot Rodger (Meredith) and by many
nieces, nephews and cousins. The family dog Tuck will miss his walks
with Nick in the Sackville Waterfowl Park where they were greeted as
Nick and Tuck.

Nick grew up in Winnipeg Manitoba. He attended high
school at St. John’s-Ravenscourt School. He went to the
University of Manitoba for his undergraduate degree and then to
Osgoode Hall Law School. He was admitted to the bar in 1971 and
practiced law in Sackville and Moncton until 2015.

Unlike many of his family and friends Nick did not
take to golf or curling; he liked cross-country skiing and cycling. He
particularly enjoyed bicycle touring and spent many happy days riding
in various parts of Canada, the New England States and England. He
enjoyed hiking and as a youth he loved to sail. In 2016 he and Anne
had a memorable hiking trip in the Dolomites of Italy.

Arrangements have been entrusted to
Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St,
Sackville, NB E4L 3N9 (506 364-1300). In accordance with
Nick’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be
no visiting hours or funeral service. Nick’s family will get
together later in the summer for remembrance. All those who would like
to honour Nick he encourages you to go out for a bike, hike or walk
and enjoy the day. Nick’s motto was, «When in doubt, go
for a bike ride.»

Donations in Nick’s memory may be made to the
charity of your choice.

Sharing of memories and condolences may be sent to
