It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Peter Ng, loving husband of Laura (Osborne) and devoted father to Sophia and Meredith. After a brief illness, Peter passed away on December 12, 2024, at Kelowna General Hospital, with his wife, his daughters, and his sisters by his side.
Born in Hong Kong, Peter came to Canada as an infant. The youngest of five siblings, Peter was cherished by John (Elisa), Martin (Winnie), Nancy (Avi), and Shelley (Ron). He was a proud uncle to ten nieces and nephews, and three great-nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Che Ngai and Toy Kin.
Peter grew up in Belleville, Ontario and earned a degree in computer engineering at the University of Waterloo. He went on to play pivotal roles in the growth of many technology companies, ascending to executive leadership roles at Janna Systems, INEA Corp, Viigo, and BlackBerry, among others.
Peter and Laura married in 1996 and settled in Newmarket, Ontario to raise their family. Peter was a loving and supportive husband and father, sharing his passions for food, travel, and animals with his family and leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories. He enjoyed exploring the world, often in pursuit of unique culinary and wildlife experiences, living life to the fullest. The family moved to Kelowna, BC in 2022 to enjoy skiing, hiking, boating, and all that the Okanagan Valley has to offer.
With a generous heart and an engaging personality, Peter touched so many lives. Taken far too soon, he will be profoundly missed. A visitation will be open to the public at 3:30 pm prior to the service. The funeral service will be held on December 19 at 4:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home in Kelowna; this will be followed by a cocktail reception at Quails’ Gate Winery at 6:00 pm, located at 3303 Boucherie Road, West Kelowna, BC. A memorial reception will be held in Ontario in January.
Donations in memory of Peter can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Kelowna General Hospital (KGH Foundation), or to any charity that benefits animals.
