Tom often recalled growing up in Donovans, nearby his grandparents
and uncle Bob Neville, reminiscing about swimming at Neil’s Pond,
playing hockey on Brazil’s Pond and generally growing up in the
countryside with his brothers, sisters and friends. He loved a good joke
and was very competitive playing sports. In 1966 Tom moved to Ontario,
where he would stay and work over the next 9 years. Around 1975, Tom
and his family moved to Goose Bay in Labrador, where he started and ran a
business. Eventually, he took his business to Bay Roberts, while living
in Upper Island Cove, NL. In 1986, Tom and his family returned to
Ontario, where he started and ran another business in Toronto until he
retired and moved to nearby Ajax, to be closer to his children and their
families. Tom met his lifelong love, Elaine, in Kitchener, around 1970.
They married in 1971 and spent a life together, filled with numerous
trips to visit family and friends. Whether it was Kitchener, Etobicoke,
Ajax, Ottawa, Welland, Grimsby, Goose Bay, Upper Island Cove, Donovans
or Glovertown, he always relished being around his family and friends.
Tom also loved travelling to Florida and going on cruises. It’s easy
to picture Tom’s smile across the table during one of the many card games, especially a good game of crib. Tom enjoyed hearing and telling stories.
He also loved to watch and play all sports and will always be remembered
as a «True Leaf & Blue Jay Fan». His unconditional love, and sense of humor and sharp memory will be forever loved and missed. He loved his family dearly every day and always made sure everyone knew how much they were loved.
«It’s time to go Tom. You’re in God’s hands now.» Rest In Peace.
