Remembering Nancy
Nancy Carolyn Henderson ~ born on September 20, 1949, embarked on her final journey on September 18, 2023, after a short and courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She passed away peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, surrounded by her family.
She had a zest for life and a love for adventure. She cherished every moment spent with her children. Her heart overflowed with love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, their laughter echoing in her soul.
For over 20 years, Nancy dedicated herself to Louis’ Good Used Clothing, where she became the “face of Louis”. Her dedication forged deep friendships, and her service earned the loyalty of devoted customers.
Her love for nature was a profound part of her. Nancy found joy in her backyard, where she had a thriving oasis of plants she lovingly grew from seeds. No trip to a greenhouse was complete without her bringing home another plant. She would say, «This plant needs to come home with me,» and her garden flourished with her nurturing touch.
Nancy was not only a dedicated mother to her own children but a loving presence in the lives of their friends, embracing them as part of her extended family. Her home was a haven of warmth, where all were welcomed with open arms.
Nancy is survived by her brothers, Gordon Matthews (Maureen) and Gerald Matthews (Marjorie), along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her parents, Carl and Perlee Matthews, and her loving husband, Roy, predeceased her. Her legacy lives on, etched deeply in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her, a legacy of boundless love and cherished memories. Nancy’s family includes her children, Kevin Henderson (Tamara), Susan Henderson (Jamie Brake), and Juliene Henderson (Brock Haas). She was also a devoted and proud grandmother to Devin Cashin (Amanda Isenor), Matthew Henderson (Jewel Burris), Zachary Mortenson and Kayla Allen, and a blessed great-grandmother to Ace and Van Cashin.
A celebration of life for Nancy will be held at the Royal Canadian Air Force Club, 22 Cottage St., Truro on October 7th, 3-7pm. The family kindly requests your presence and remembrances as we gather to honour her memory.
