Nancy passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the age of 98. She is survived by her sons Steven (Sandra Curtis) and Peter (Sonia Waind), her daughter Katherine (Keith Irving), her five grandchildren Brittany, Kymberley (Garret Hill), Hillary, Simon and Greg, and her niece Karen. She was predeceased by her husband Bob and her sister Janet McCulloch.
Nancy lived a long and full life and was admired and cherished by her wide circle of friends. Born in Painesville, Ohio on October 22, 1925, to James Moffatt and Mary Booth Moffatt, Nancy came to London, Ontario as a teenager with her sister Janet, and found love, fulfilment and happiness in her adopted home. Nancy attended Alma College and graduated from Central Collegiate in 1949. She met her future husband Bob while working at the University of Western Ontario. They married in 1950, and together they raised their family and shared many adventures together. She was very proud of her Anglican faith and Canadian citizenship.
Nancy was a lifelong learner, whether it was through continuing education courses or her devoted daily reading of the Globe & Mail. As an “empty nester”, she worked in real estate for many years, and volunteered with organizations such as May Court, the London Art Gallery and St. Paul’s Cathedral. She was a long-time member of the London Hunt and Country Club, but perhaps happiest sitting on the porch at the family cottage in Grand Bend, Ontario surrounded by friends and family.
Nancy’s family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the wonderful caregivers at SE Health (Poopli), At Your Service Seniors (Celia, Anita, Bryn and Jenn), and Amica Retirement Residence for their kindness and care of Nancy over the last few years. A private family funeral has been held, with interment at Woodland Cemetery in London beside her beloved husband, Bob.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Nancy can be made to St. Paul’s Social Services Food Bank or McCormick Care Foundation.
