Millicent Jane Phillips (Tilley)
January 2nd, 1944- June 13th, 2024
Millicent Jane Phillips (Tilley) was born on January 2, 1945, in Bonavista to Joseph and Annie Tilley. She spent her entire life in Bonavista, marrying Eric Phillips on April 19, 1961. Together, they had four children: two sons, Andy and Lyndon, and two daughters, Sherry and Tammy.
Millicent was a devoted, quiet woman of faith who worked tirelessly raising her family and working at the fish plant until her health issues forced her to stop. Her family was blessed to have such a loving and kind-hearted mother who provided the best life she could for them. Millicent took great pride in maintaining a clean home and cooking delicious meals. She cherished her daily walks and chats with neighbors until, after years of suffering and struggling with diabetes, her eyesight failed. Despite the challenges, she never complained. Millicent often said, “I pray for a miracle every day.” Last Thursday morning, God answered her prayer and granted her wish when He sent His Angels to hold her hands and whispered, “Come with me; it’s time to go.”
Millicent was predeceased by her mother (Annie), her father (Joseph), her brother (Gordon), and her sister (Eileen). She leaves behind her sisters, Margaret, Joyce, and Barbara, as well as her two sons, Andy and Lyndon (with Dorothy), and her two daughters, Sherry (with Jim) and Tammy. Her legacy continues through her five grandchildren: Ashton, Kelly, Lori (with Dempsey), Erica (with Thristen), and Tristen. Additionally, she has two great-grandchildren, Emily and Keri Ann. A special thank you goes to Peggy, who cared deeply for Millicent and was always there to help her.
Visitation will be held on June 15th and June 16th from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm from Strathie’s Funeral Home, Bonavista.
Funeral Service will take place on Monday, June 17th at 11:00am from Strathie’s Funeral Home, with interment to follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Bonavista.
