Obituary of Mildred Irene Hills
Hills: Mildred Irene (née Clark) –
A resident of Highgate, Mildred Hills passed away peacefully on October 14, 2024 at the age of 101.
Born in Orford Township, Mildred was the daughter of Ezra and Hazel Clark.
Beloved wife of Ross Hills (1995) for 51 years.
Loving mother of Allen Hills (Ruth), (Lorna 2012), Lee Hills (Marsha), Eileen Osborne (Clayt); predeceased by Ernie Hills (2007).
Survived by her grandchildren Erica, Aaron (Christine), Kyle (Denise), Amy, Trevor, Landra (Zack), and Cala and by 9 great grandchildren.
She will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Mildred was predeceased by her siblings Grace, Albert (Mayme), Walter (Ruby), Calvin, Ross (Rachel), Lyle (Francis), Gertrude, Florence (Burt), and survived by Calvin’s wife Verna.
Mildred was known for her knitted chickens, crocheted afghans, and her famous chocolate chip and shortbread cookies, that only a few can match. In addition to helping Ross on the farm Mildred was active in the community, her church (she was one of the founding members of Highgate United Church Couples Club) and especially enjoyed leading her 4H Homemaking clubs.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Friday, October 18, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 11:00am until the Funeral Service at 1:00pm. Interment to follow at Gosnell Cemetery.
Donations made in memory of Mildred to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation, Gosnell Cemetery or to the Charity of Your Choice would be appreciated by the family.
