Mrs. Maryann Patricia Fankhanel of Eckville, Alberta passed away at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Rimbey, Alberta on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the age of 75 years. Maryann was born on October 27, 1948, in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, to William and Jessie Whitmore. Maryann was the youngest of two daughters. She grew up, and found the love of her life, Carmen Fankhanel. They were married on April 20, 1968, in Calgary, Alberta and stayed married for fifty beautiful years. Maryann was happiest when she was enjoying a nice day riding horseback, a trip on the skidoo, a good game of curling, camping with the family, or enjoying a weekend at the rodeo. She had a love for animals, especially dogs, but her greatest love was for her family. Maryann will be lovingly remembered by her son, Dallas (Rochelle) Fankhanel of Red Deer; her daughter, Rita (Cody) Casper of Eckville; her five grandchildren, Savanna, Tina, Devon, Asia and Zach; and her two great grandchildren, Brexton and Serenity. She will also be sadly missed by her sister, May (George) Small of Brooks, Alberta, as well as numerous other relatives, and friends. Maryann was predeceased by her husband, Carmen, and her parents, William and Jessie. A small Private Family Gathering will be held at a later date.
