Mary Ropp, of Maples Home for Seniors, passed away peacefully at the Stratford Rotary Hospice on Thursday, December 5, 2024 just 17 days shy of her 89th birthday.
Mary was born on December 23rd, 1935 the youngest of 5 children to the late Michael and Barbara (Zehr) Ropp.
Mary was an active member of East Zorra Mennonite Church.
Mary is lovingly remembered by her eleven nieces and nephews and their spouses, Rosemary Stein, Carol and Owen Cook, Marlene Yantzi, Willard and Mary Ropp, Roger and Kate Kropf, Sanford and Donna Kropf, Charlene and Bruce Kropf, Walter and Valerie Kropf, Martha and Brent Kuehl, Gloria and Merv Ropp, Dale Ropp and her many great nieces and nephews and their children. Also remembered by cousins.
She was predeceased by brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry Ropp, Stanley and Leona and Mary E. Ropp, Emerson and Edna Ropp and sister and brother-in-law Hilda and Floyd Kropf.
Mary worked at Stratford General Hospital for 40 years.
Mary enjoyed quilting, crocheting and knitting. She also volunteered at the New Hamburg MCC Thrift Store and Nithview Home, New Hamburg.
Visitation will be at Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock Street North Tavistock on Sunday December 8, 2024 from 2-5 p.m.
Funeral service will be held at East Zorra Mennonite Church, 16th Line on Monday, December 9, 2024 at 2 p.m. with visitation prior to the service.
As expressions of sympathy donations to East Zorra Mennonite Church or Stratford General Hospital would be appreciated and may be made through Francis Funeral Home.
