Mary Kinsella passed away on July 8, 2023. She was born July 14, 1931, in Miminegash, PEI, to her parents Harris and Cora Callaghan (nee Shea). Mary was united in marriage to Bruce Kinsella, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a life in Châteauguay Quebec which was filled with love, laughter, and shared experiences. Mary’s commitment to her family was unwavering, and she instilled in her children the values of love and compassion.
Mary poured her heart into her children and grandchildren, instilling in them the same love and devotion she held for them. Mary leaves behind her son Lorne married to Nicole Kinsella (their son Joel). Her daughter Elaine and partner Glenn Griffith (their children Kallysta and Alexander). Glenn married to Nancy Semper (their children Rebecca, Austin, Brooke, and Connor). Peter married to Carmen Lo Dico (their children Aidan and Sarah). Her daughter Julie married to Dervin Birch (their children Macen and Kallum, and stepson Khem Birch).
Mary is survived by siblings Ruth Logan (late Walter), Alice Gazeley (Raymond), Eva Waller (late Ted), Walter Callaghan (Audrey), and Ann Barwise (Sherill). She was preceded in death by her brothers Desmond (late Jean and late Lennie), Clair (late Ellen and Carol), and Lorne (infant). Mary’s family was of great importance to her; she maintained a close bond with her siblings throughout her life. Their love and support brought her comfort and joy.
Mary was a registered nurse who worked at the Montreal Children’s Hospital in the 1950s and 60s. Even though Mary discontinued work as a nurse once her children arrived, she continued to keep in touch with many of her colleagues and joined them to celebrate anniversaries.
Mary loved her softball league and continued to play well into her 60s. She was an active member of the 55-Plus Club in Châteauguay, where she enjoyed playing Bridge and formed many lasting friendships. She spread unconditional love and kindness. Mary’s deep sense of compassion and her gentle spirit touched the lives of everyone she encountered, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts and souls.
Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Mary’s life on July 29, 2023, at 10:00 AM to take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (295 Rue McLeod, Châteauguay). In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Mary’s honor to The Kidney Foundation of Canada.

Her love, faith, and unwavering spirit will continue to guide and inspire us all.
